Ohaneze Ndigbo: Uniting the Igbo People Since 1976
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people, has steadfastly championed Igbo unity and cultural preservation for nearly five decades. Its establishment in 1976 marked a pivotal moment for the Igbo community, solidifying a platform to advocate for their collective interests and heritage in Nigeria's socio-political sphere.
Historical Evolution Ohanaeze's roots trace back to the Lagos Igbo Union of the 1930s. This movement eventually culminated in the establishment of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in 1979, following the Nigerian Civil War. Representing seven states—Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers—the organization works tirelessly to foster Igbo unity, preserve cultural heritage, and advocate for political and economic representation.
Current Leadership and Goals In January 2025, Senator John Azuta-Mbata became the 13th President-General. Today, Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains a beacon of resilience and strength, addressing pressing issues like regional security, federal representation, and infrastructure development.
Patti Boulaye: A Star with Igbo Roots

Patti gained fame on New Faces, scoring a perfect 120 points, and became a household name. She is renowned for starring in Bisi, Daughter of the River and being the face of Lux soap for 29 years. Married to Hungarian businessman Stephen Komlosy, she is a proud mother and grandmother. Through her charity, "Support for Africa," she built five healthcare clinics and collaborated with Prince Harry’s Sentebale.
